General
We recommend that you read these guidelines carefully to ensure all necessary information is received and that your application is processed as quickly and efficiently as possible. You should also read the on-screen instructions to help you understand what to do on each screen.
You do not have to complete your application in one session. You will be provided with your log in credentials to enable you to complete your application at a future date should you so choose. You will be able to save your application during the process and return to it when you are ready to continue. Please note that your application will not be processed until all the relevant sections have been completed and your application has been submitted.

The following sections refer to the different screens you need to complete before submitting your application. Depending on your Visa Status, you may not see all of the following screens.
Making multiple applications
If you are making multiple applications you should login with the unique ID emailed to you as part of the application process. You will then need to submit a new application for each course you wish to apply for.
If you are an Education Adviser
If you are making multiple applications, you must make a new application for each new student.
Account
In order for us to process your application we will need you to create an account. Your unique username will be emailed to you once the application is partially saved or submitted. Please enter a password that is at least 8 characters long and contains at least 1 lower case letter, 1 upper case letter, and 1 digit.
Privacy Notice
In order to proceed with an application please read the application guidance and Privacy Notice. Tick the box at the bottom of the page to accept and proceed with your application.
Personal
Please fill out your personal details, ensuring that you populate the mandatory fields such as Title, First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth. You will also have the option to input a middle name and a preferred name if it is different to the name on your official documents.
If you are an Education Adviser
Please add the student’s details. You should copy the exact information as written on the student’s passport.
Contact
In this section, please enter your permanent and correspondence address. The correspondence address is the one we will use to write to you. Please complete with as much detail as possible, ensuring that as a minimum the mandatory fields such as Country Name, Address, and Town/City are populated.
First, select your country. You can then start typing your address in the ‘Address Search’ field and this should automatically populate the address for you. If your address does not appear in the suggested list, then manually input the address and Town/City.
If your Permanent address is the same as your correspondence address you can tick the box at the bottom of the screen, otherwise you will also need to input this.
If you are an Education Adviser
You will be presented with the question are you an Education Adviser? Click Yes.
Please provide your company’s Education Adviser ID (if known) and put your email address in the Email Address field. This will be the primary email address we use for correspondence.
You will then need to provide the applicant’s own details in the Applicant Email Address, Primary Phone Number (including the country code), Correspondence Address, and Permanent Address.
Programme Choice
This is the course you wish to apply for. If you are applying for multiple courses please apply for one course at a time. Once this application has been submitted you can use your login details to apply for another course, most of your application details will be saved from your previous application.
Programme Category
This information should pre-populate based on the course that you have selected to apply for via the e-prospectus. If you are a Home or EU student you should apply via UCAS for any full time undergraduate courses. If you apply via the portal we will not consider your application.
If you are an Education Adviser
If you are an Education Adviser you will apply via the portal link provided to you. Please select the course the student is applying for from the list for example Postgraduate, Undergraduate, etc.
Award Type
This is the title of the degree you want to apply for e.g for Postgraduate courses you can choose the following, Master of Science, Master of Arts etc.
Programme
From the dropdown list select the course you wish to apply for.
Expected Attendance Pattern
Here you can select Full Time or Part Time Study. If you do not get a choice in the dropdown menu, it means your selected course is only available for that particular mode of study.
Please note that if you are an international student and your require a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK, you can only apply for Full Time courses.

Delivery Method
Here you will be able to select whether you are studying On Campus or via Distance Learning. Please note that for most courses this information will pre-populate.
Programme Route
This information should pre-populated based on the course you have selected.
Campus
This will pre-populate based on the campus your selected course is taught at.
Expected Start Date
Select the date that you wish to start your course.
Demographic
Nationality
Use the drop down list to select your nationality.
Dual Nationality
Use the drop down to select a second country if you have dual nationality/citizenship.
Birth Country
Use the drop down to select your country of birth.
Country of Permanent Residence
This is the country that you normally reside in. For UK residents, please select England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales.
Ethnicity
The University is required to collect this information for statistical and statutory reporting purposes. Information on ethnicity will not be used to reach a decision on your application.
Religion
The University is required to collect this information for statistical and statutory reporting purposes. This information will not be used to reach a decision on your application.
Gender
Please select your gender. If you identify as non-binary you should select the ‘other’ option.
Additional Citizenship Information
Do you require a visa to study in the UK?
We are asking for this information to help us determine if you require a student visa to study in the UK and to gather details required for student visa applications. It also helps us establish your status for tuition fee purposes.
If you select ‘Yes’ to the above question you will then have the option to fill out the following sections.
Passport Number
This is the number written on your most up-to-date passport.
Passport Issue Date
This is the date your passport was issued.
Passport Expiry Date
This is the date that your passport expires.
Passport Place of Issue
This is the place your passport was issued as listed on your passport.
Have you previously been granted a visa to study in the UK?
Select Yes/No. If you have been granted a previous visa please input the details and make sure you attach a copy of any previous visas to your application in the final section.
Visa Type
This is the immigration category in which you last entered the UK. E.g Tier 4
Visa Expiry Date
This is the expiry date on your previous visa if applicable.
Visa Number
If you know your previous visa number you can enter it here.
Date of Entry to the UK
This is the date that you entered the UK on your previous visa.
Employment
Here you can highlight any relevant work experience that may be used to strengthen your application. If you do not have any relevant work experience you can leave this blank and proceed to the next section.
Employment Status
You can select in this section if you are ‘in paid employment’, ‘not in paid employment’ or ‘not provided’
Occupation
Please select an occupation or the closest match in the drop down list.
Employer
This is the name of the company or organisation you work for. Once you start typing this will suggest organisations in our database that match, if yours is not on the list you should type the full name of your employer.
You will have the opportunity to add your current employer as well as dates employed. Once this has been saved you will be able to add another employer by clicking the ‘Add Employment’ button.
If you wish to update or delete an employer, click on the relevant option for the employer listed.
Previous Education Institutions
In this section, please provide the details of the schools, colleges, and universities where you have previously studied.
Start typing the name of your previous institution. If the institution is not found make sure that you type the full name of the institution and provide the City, Country, and dates attended. If you wish to update or delete an institution, click on the relevant option for the institution listed.
Qualifications
Input your Qualification Type. For example if you are an International student applying for a Postgraduate Course and your highest qualification is a degree then you can put in International (Non-EU) Degree.
Select the Qualification Subject from the list. If you cannot find an exact match, pick the nearest equivalent.
Please manually input your Qualification Grade, if you are awaiting confirmation of your grade, tick ‘Awaiting Result’.
When you have input the details click save. You can then add another qualification by clicking the pink ‘Add Qualification’ button.
English Language Skills
All applicants must be able to demonstrate English Language proficiency. We may be able to make you a conditional offer if you have not yet taken a test or are waiting for the results.
How do you plan to meet the English language requirement for your programme?
Select an English Language qualification from the dropdown list. If your qualification is not listed select ‘other’.
Date qualification obtained
Enter the date you completed this qualification. If your results are pending, select the ‘Awaiting Result’ button.
Overall grade
Enter the overall grade you achieved in this qualification. If applicable to your qualification you can also enter the scores for reading, writing, listening, and speaking at the bottom of the page.
Disability
We invite you to state if you have a disability or additional need so that we can assist and advise you on appropriate and available support.
If you select ‘No known disability’, click next and you will be able to proceed with the application. If you select yes then you can add your disability or additional need from the dropdown list as well as information regarding your Disabled Student Allowance.
We will use the same criteria to make decisions on applications received from applicants who disclose a disability as for those from other applicants, in that a decision will be based on academic merit and potential. Practical considerations relating to accessibility will be considered separately. All applicants who disclose a disability and receive an offer will be contacted by the Disability Service to ensure that they receive full information about support available to them.

Application Information
In this section, you are able to select whether you are a previous Manchester Metropolitan University graduate. If you know your MMU ID number, you can add it in this section.
Personal Statement
Please provide a personal statement that sets out your reasons for undertaking the programme. Admissions tutors will be interested in the reasons for your choice of programme, your career aspirations, and relevant experience and information concerning your intellectual, social, sporting, or other interests. You should also give details of any non-examined subjects you are studying. If you have been out of education for some time, please outline any relevant experience that you would like to be taken into account in lieu of formal qualifications, either at home or in voluntary or paid work. This needs to be kept within 4000 characters.
We recommend you have your personal statement prepared in a separate document so you can copy and paste this into the personal statement field on the application form.
If you are an Education Adviser or International Student
You should also go into detail about why you (or the student) want to study this particular course, and why you (or the student) wish to study in the UK and at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Online Portfolio
Art, Design, Media students applying for creative studio based courses, please include a URL link to your online portfolio here that should contain a selection of up to 20 images or 10 minutes of video of your past work. You should also explain how you would like to develop your practice during your course of study. Each course has different portfolio requirements and you should check the online prospectus for details of a specific course.
Declaration
Before submitting, your application please check that all the details you have provided have been added correctly. By submitting your application and clicking the box at the bottom of the page you are declaring that your application is true, accurate, and complete and that you accept the university’s Privacy Policy. We cannot process your application unless you do so.
